Get to Know SC’s Agribusiness

Agribusiness in South Carolina continues to grow, making the industry a vital component of South Carolina’s economy. Collectively, referred to as the agribusiness industry, the agriculture and forestry industries represent the largest economic sector in the state with an economic impact of over $50 billion dollars annually.

The Office of Agribusiness Development (OAD) was established in 2015 as a division of the South Carolina Department of Agriculture. The OAD was created to support and encourage the expansion of the existing industry while also strategically recruiting other agribusinesses.

The Office of Agribusiness Development is driven by two main objectives:

1.

Assist local farmers and agribusinesses who are interested in expanding and/or diversifying their operation.

2.

Identify and recruit new agribusinesses that will provide opportunities for the existing industry in South Carolina.
